Omaha Beach Capital Announces Successful Close of Omaha Beach Natural Resources, LLC
Miami, January 30, 2022—Omaha Beach Capital (“Omaha Beach” or “the Firm”), a private equity secondaries and co-investment firm is announcing the successful close of Omaha Beach Natural Resources, LLC (the “SPV”). The SPV is pursuing investments in energy and mineral assets with a geographic focus on North America.
“At Omaha beach, we have had success partnering with PE sponsors across a range of sectors including energy over the past 7 years. Recently, the commodities markets have experienced a rapid and protracted price compression due to COVID. In addition, we’ve seen many larger investors that have historically been active players in energy and mining step back due to ESG pressures. This created an environment with unprecedented opportunity to work with our existing manager relationships and forge new partnerships with specialist sponsors, to take advantage of a set of opportunities that we anticipate are short-lived,” said Brian Zaratzian, Omaha Beach co-founder and managing partner.
Omaha Beach is partnering with various PE managers in early secondary fund positions and direct company co-investments, an approach that has been synonymous with the firm since day one. There is a focus on assets with existing cash-flows that can operate in a depressed pricing environment and have asymmetric upside with a global recovery in broader commodity prices.
“Our perspective is that an unusual confluence of events—namely COVID lockdowns impairing demand, combined with pools of capital exiting the sector—created an extraordinary landscape for Omaha Beach to hunt for undervalued deals. We are actively working with managers to deploy this SPV into oil, natural gas, and iron ore opportunities in North America,” said Eric Fishman, co-founder and managing partner.
